Apocalypse in particular has close ties to several incarnations of the team. Building From ApocalypseIn a lot of ways, an X-Force movie would be a pretty natural extension from Days of Future Past and Apocalypse. But the real question is whether an X-Force movie is the best direction for Fox to pursue, and how it could build on the many X-Men films that have come before. This spinoff has been strongly rumored for a couple years now, with Kick-Ass 2 writer/director Jeff Wadlow reportedly working on a screenplay. We think Fox might be planning an X-Force movie as the next major expansion of the X-Men franchise. We're inclined to go with the former idea. The early consensus is that this mystery film is either an X-Force spinoff or a crossover between the X-Men characters and Fox's soon-to-be rebooted Fantastic Four team. And based on recent announcements, we know we can look forward to a third Wolverine solo film in 2017 (hopefully with Hugh Jackman again reprising his role) and an unknown mystery film in 2018. Days of Future Past will lead into X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016, where the fearsome X-villain finally makes his Hollywood debut. X-Men: Days of Future Past drops this May, adapting the seminal comic book storyline and uniting the First Class cast with those of the original trilogy. Fox have really stepped up their plans for the X-Men movies lately, turning them into an almost annual franchise.
